This treatment consists of multiple local injections of the FDA approved medication Phosphatidylcholine Deoxycholate (PCDC) into targeted treatment areas to reduce superficial fat deposits. When injected, the fat cells absorb the PCDC, become inflamed, harden and break down over the next 4 to 6 weeks. Once broken down, the fat cells are slowly removed from the body by the macrophages (type of white blood cell) in the inflammatory process while new collagen tightens the skin.
